Patty Van Dyke Creativity is the essence of our human spirit.

Watercolor is my medium of choice. I love its fluidity, richness, and unpredictability - it has a mind of its own. Plein air painting is the discipline that undergirds all my artistic work. The crunch of time and weather grounds me and keeps me in the now. The deep relationship to our environment developed by paying close attention fuels my work in the imaginal realm as well. Currently I am fascinated by the labor intensive, gritty, and always surprising work of ink resist, often combining it with collage, and fabric. Whether the subject is landscape, people, or the vegetables in my own back yard, my work is intense and personal. Having had a private practice as an Art Therapist for over 20 years I am continually amazed by the power of art to heal us and connect us to our deepest self and to each other.

Patty Van Dyke's studio is in Ojai. She is a Signature Member of the California Gold Coast Watercolor Society, which has now joined with the Buena Ventura Art Association, the Santa Barbara Art Association, and a founding member of The Ojai Group. Her work can regularly be seen at Masserella's Firehouse Pottery and Gallery on Montgmoery St. in Ojai.
